Quote DuJour
“Don’t think.
Thinking is the enemy of creativity.
Thinking is the enemy of creativity.
It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy.
You can’t try to do things.
You simply must do things”
– Ray Bradbury

Quote DuJour
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about
if you have the outgoing guts to do it,
and the imagination to improvise.
The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”

"Regardless of who you are, regardless of your social position—the highest or the lowest—have always as your goal to have a lot of strength, a lot of determination, and always do everything with a lot of love and faith in God. Because one day, you will get there. Somehow, you will get there."

Quote DuJour
"The majority of photographers still seek “artistic” effects, imitating other mediums of graphic expression. The result is a hybrid product that does not succeed in giving their work the most valuable characteristic it should have, —photographic quality."

In Honor Of My Father
Memorial day is day that honors those who served........Today I honor my father who served in World War II. A good man with a kind and loving heart who raised two great sons.

“I still think the computer has so confused us that we don’t quite have the strong moral compass that we should, I always say to people that I like to see wet ink. A computer leaves me unable to do what I live for: to find something unexpected.”
-Ralph Steadman
I'm interested in seeing the documentay film.
Quote DuJour
At the root of creativity is an impulse to understand, to make sense of random and often unrelated details. For me, photography provides an intersection of time, space, light, and emotional stance. One needs to be still enough, observant enough, and aware enough to recognize the life of the materials, to be able to 'hear through the eyes.

"An artist must be open to the muse. The greater the artist, the more he is open to “cosmic currents.” He has to behave as he does. If he has “the courage to be an artist,” he is committed to behave as the mood possesses him. . . .
The price an artist pays for doing what he wants is that he has to do it."

Creatively Conflicted
Creative people have to deal with the monsters in their mind. We are conflicted......we argue with ourselves and usually do nothing but create mental scrambled eggs in our heads. Time usually sorts things out, but we create a lot of confusion in the meantime. Round and round and round we go and where we land nobody knows.
The Fast Company Leadership Now website has an interesting post on the 10 Paradoxical Traits Of Creative People. Faisal Hoque has some interesting points for the creatively conflicted. A interesting read. 10 Paradoxical Traits Of Creative People

Sign From Mars
This sign has marked the way from Illinois to Milwaukee for many years. It's so circa 1950's type design is what makes it. The store building has changed but the sign remains the same. A true cheddar curtain icon.
